New Things in '09

A month before the new year began, Ben and I discovered that 2009 would hold much more than vain aspirations and good-hearted strides toward being better friends, neighbors and family members: we are to be parents of a child that God is knitting together inside of me. Is there a word for this feeling? I can think of several things that have been swirling around in our hearts and heads, but I don't think there is one way to describe exactly what this miracle of life means to us. Surprised? Yes. Overjoyed? Yes. Nervous? A bit. And while we tread this ground will all of our posts be about the pregnancy and the baby? Will I have anything else to say? I certainly hope so! While I'm sure I'll be tempted to be consumed by this child, I want to stay in touch with the real world. Any readers out there who have found the key to this balance? Anyone else have the same concern? Stories and suggestions welcome.

We did see our babe this week via ultra sound. A cute little nose protrudes from his/her profile. Absolutely miraculous. How can it be that God would bless us so?

Hello cousins! Long time no communication. Hopefully at least Ben does still remember we exist. In case you guys dont know, we are in Texas and have been for the past almost 5 years. We really wish we could have kept in touch better, and hopefully now we can. We have a big reason to do so. We just had our baby girl in Nov. 2008. She is the most wonderful gift ever given to us. I cannot tell you how wonderful this is going to be for you. Sara, enjoy every moment of your pregnancy. I unfortunately was very, very sick with mine for about 6 months. I do not with that upon you. But, because of it, it took me a long time to learn to enjoy it. It is an experience like no other, and when you wish it was over and you are near the end, he/she will be here and then you will wish he/she was back inside. iTs weird, but I promise it happens. I am soooo excited for you guys it is unspeakable. We, Chris, Eric, and Cat (the newest family member) all hope this brings us all closer. Chris always liked Ben and we were really impressed with you, Sara, the one time we do remember meeting you. We are just sorry that space has kept us so far apart. But, now we have the internet. We also have a webpage you are welcome to check out. Its called theuncommons.com. It has posting from our little group of friends that are more like family down here in sunny Houston. Check it out for picture of our baby girl and see how Eric is growing up. Please write back when you get a chance.
